I bought this GPS around Christmas - 2007 for $150. It lists for $399. I had originally ordered another GPS but the store, where I made my recall, lost my modern order. I agreed to regain the Delphi NAV-300 because it was supposedly of equal or greater value.
The grand, the NAV-300 does what it is supposed to do. Punch in a destination and it gets you there, as long as the destination is on the GPS scheme. I was able to fetch a particular state in Boston, MA that I would never have found without it. It worked well under a mile of road tunnel.
The abominable, I noticed a few quirks fair device. For example, when driving on the interstate, upright in the middle of the highway with no exits approaching, it will recount you to, "Now turn left," making it indispensable for me to turn the volume down. Another plight with this particular unit is that I have not seen a single scheme update since I purchased the NAV-300. I noticed recently that the NAV-200 had a procedure update through a third party vendor for $99. The other day, I went to Gray, Maine and it could not gather a road. When traveling a stretch of newly built highway, the GPS went off the plot. I am guessing I will have to eventually pay for a modern plan if I want improved service.
This GPS works dazzling, most of the time, with the existing contrivance but it certainly is worth no more than the $150 that I paid for it, especially if I have to pay a high mark for future way updates. I would strongly recommend another notice because it seems that Delphi does not offer maps for any of their GPS units and the NAV-300 is supposed to be a higher-end model.
Buyer beware - do not pick a GPS unless the manufacturer promises, up-front, free device updates for the life of your unit, otherwise, you will be paying down the road (no pun intended) .
Ok I bought this product before reading any reviews. I got it up and running and it works stout! I live in California and have had no problems as far as finding destinations and reaching them. I got this paticular unit because it was $139.99 marked down from $399.99. I only bought it for the navigation and have no interest in the other "features" so I am very joyful with it. It is hard to observe with sunglasses on but the thing talks to you so.....yeah. I would recomend this unit for anyone who wants fair a GPS unit. Who the hell is looking at pictures while driving anyway?
I would not recommend this product unless you want to be frustrated. The DVD instructions did not work in any DVD player I had. Then I discovered I must consume a pen stylus for inputting addresses but there was no state on the unit to store the stylus. I guess they purchase you are going to consume your bear velcrow to preserve from losing it. The opinion that you need a stylus is very terrible as with a Garmin your fingers do the work. I had a hard time trying to figure out how to input correctly on this unit. But without instructions on their DVD that did not work I wanted to call their customer wait on. It was Saturday morning and I called. They told me they have no Saturday or Sunday business hours and to call attend Mon-Friday 8-5. This is my working time so that does not work for me. I guess Delphi has not figured out they are selling a customer product which requires some assist and their customers would like wait on when they are not at work themselves. In any case, I returned the unit to Delphi and purchased a Garmin from Sams Club. I needed no assistance on the Garmin and hasty had it taking me to destinations without a stylus.
I paid a shrimp more but there is no comparison. I suggest Delphi acquire some staunch marketing people working with their engineers in the future.
